Smisby Day Nursery is contained in the original village school building built in 1900. Nicknamed “The Sunshine School” for its large south-facing classrooms it is a purpose built building full of character and charm. The school was closed in 1984 as there were less than five children attending the school and they were all moved into new schools in Ashby de la Zouch. It was restored to its former glory in 1990 as a Nursery and opened its doors to the sound of children once more.
Set in over half an acre of land Smisby Day Nursery has a large south-facing garden, secure play area, sensory kitchen and Forest School with views over open countryside to the rear, and a secure drop off and collection point at the front, with ample parking. Local trips and walks around the village and up to the play park are a regular part of our routine.
The Nursery offers a 9 place Baby Room, a 14 place Toddler Room, a 27 place pre-school Room and a 32 place Before and After School Club and Holiday Club. The Out of School club and the Holiday Club operate from a separate building behind the Nursery and it runs in line with Leicestershire schools. The holiday scheme offers full and half-day care during ALL the school holidays.
