·       Work in Partnership with staff, parents, carers, and their children and adopt a flexible, professional approach in promoting the development, welfare and potential of all children attending the setting.

·       Provide high quality, inclusive, fully integrated childcare provision for the children according to the SEN Code of Practice.

• Assumes the overall charge in the absence of the Manager, whether that is out of the building or out of sight.

·       Work alongside the Manger to ensure the effective day to day running of the Pre-school.

·       To supervise the day-to-day management of the Pre-School alongside the manager and liaise with the Manager frequently.

·       To support the manager with the running of the preschool, including but not limited to mentoring of staff, liaising with outside agencies, systematically monitoring, and implementing high quality provision according to the EYFS, and ensuring the smooth everyday running of the preschool.

• Has responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the setting’s SEN policy, and for coordinating SEN provision across the setting.
• Make applications to the Early Years Inclusion Panel about individual children with more complex needs.
• Liaise regularly with the local authority to keep knowledge of changing paperwork up to date.
• Attend meetings that are arranged for children with SEN including off-site meetings.
• To plan and carry out interventions that are adequate for children’s individual needs and review them regularly to monitor progress.
• Work in a timely manner to ensure that all paperwork is up to date and plans are regularly reviewed.
• Assess the needs of the children and promptly put a timetable in place for interventions and additional support needed to ensure children get the support they need as quickly as possible.

·       Support colleagues in all aspects of their work with children with SEN.

·       To keep knowledge updated by attending training and keeping up to date with statutory guidance, SEN code of Practice, Local authority training and other relevant training.

·       Give clear and appropriate advice to keyworkers who ask for support for children who have been identified as having developmental delays.

·       To complete assessments, profiles, developmental journals according to local authority policies whilst keeping to deadlines set by manager and outside agencies.

·       Liaise with parents and other professionals in respect of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

·       To be involved in the decision making for the appropriate use of Pupil Premium money.

·       Be a flexible member of staff, stepping into staff ratio as needed to cover lunches, sickness or help on a busy day. Cover 1:1 child when their key worker is not in.

·       Be a consistent role model to the staff team and there to support when the team have questions or need advice.

• Attend Annual General Meetings, Parents Evenings, and where needed Committee meetings.
• Keep confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is learnt as part of the job.
• Deliver staff meetings and morning meetings where necessary and in absent of the manager.
• Deliver CPD sessions with staff to share skills and knowledge to develop a highly skilled workforce.
• Manage complaints according to the policy when the Manager is not available.
• Keep up to date knowledge of the OFSTED inspection framework and look for gaps in the pre-schools practice that need improving to meet the outstanding guidance.
• Know and implement the Pre-schools – Intent, Implementation, Impact.
• When needed show around prospective parents and external agencies.
